Superheroes

Hey all,

Our KAL for the Shazamm socks ends today. While knitting these socks I thought a lot about the superheroes in my life and what makes a superhero. I'm lucky to have a few people who have proved invaluable and continually surprise me with their strength. Amazingly, it seems that more often than not, the people I don't expect to help me through the rough patches are the ones who stick around and become true allies, while the people who whip their superhero capes around and trumpet their friendship are those that end up disappointing me and often become villains. In my experience, real life superheroes are similar to their comic book counterparts. Like Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, they seek no recognition or validation. And, most importantly, they are not a collection of words, they are a collection of actions. I hope you are all lucky enough to have a least one personal superhero or enough inner superhero to recognize the villains in your life and strike them out.

Anyway, I'm excited to see all your finished projects.

Happy posting and knitting!

Mitts done

Yes sirree bob, my elder daughter calls me "BSG" (for "butt saving gal") so I had to modify the mitts. My very first mitt ended up being my "re-learning to relax into stranded knitting," so I actually knit three mitts. That's the way it goes sometimes!

July Socks

I finished my socks. It was great working intarsia again. I did a small bit when my niece was in 2nd grade--she is now 35 and still has the sweater I made her.

Photos of finished socks

I started knitting a sock from an older kit. It was the Intrepid Traveler pattern using the Electric Kool-aid Acid Test color way. This was my first experience knitting with the STR yarn and I fell in love, hard, deep and fast. I then picked up the pattern from January and knit the Lantern Luck socks. I got some help from the blog to get me started, (thanks Hazel) and it was a lovely knit. I then moved on to Paua Socks these are so pretty and I have a few friends and family members wishing for these to be gifted to them. Next, I was scared of the next pattern. I had to remind myself that knitting is no more than one stitch at a time. If I can break it down into easier parts than it seems achievable. I just finished the leg of the first sock on the Quite Contrary socks and started the heel this morning.

I am so sorry to take so long to upload these pictures. I hope that they are up to par for this group. I am about 2 1/2 years into knitting and socks are my first love. Thanks for listening to me ramble.
Have a great day!
Jennifer

Jettquilts on Ravelry

I tried unsuccessfully to upload pictures (.jpeg) from my iPad on to this blog post. I am sort of stuck here and don't know what else to try. If someone else uses an iPad and has figured it out, I would love some help. For now, if you would like to see my pictures, I am on Ravelry and I am Jettquilts. Sorry

Super Hero Mitts

I loved this project! Finished on August 29th. I'm considering casting on the socks too.

Finished socks

I finished my Shazamm socks and am really happy with it. Colorwork willnever be my favourite knitting technique, so I'm very proud I did them.

Finished my mitts!

This kit was lots of fun and I learned a bunch. This was my first color work project ever. Thanks, Tina and Team BMFA!
