We accept Mastercard and Visa as well as PayPal.

Although we utilize PayPal to provide a secure and reliable method of accepting payments, having a PayPal account is not required in order to shop with us.

Processing Time

Did you know that when you place your order with us, then we dye it just for you?

It's true.

Here at Blue Moon – land of texture, color, and yes, chickens – we hand-paint your skeins of yarn and hanks of fiber to order. We do this for a variety of reasons: to make sure we can offer you as many colorway selections as we possibly can, to give you as many yarn and fiber choices as we want, to keep costs reasonable for both you and us, and lastly, to assure knitter happiness with color, yarn and a job well done.

Of course, this takes a little bit more time than walking to a shelf in a storeroom, picking up a skein or two of yarn, and shipping it out (not that there's anything wrong with that). When we hand-paint your order, we first bundle it, then soak it in our special magic solution. When soaking is done, we lay it out on our tables and paint it. We then steam it to set the dye after which it sits overnight to cool. The very next morning, we rinse and hang it from the rafters to dry and look pretty!  Since we reside in the Pacific Northwest this part of the process can take up to 48 hours for our large hanks of garment yarns and roving, even with our state-of-the-art dehumidifier. When we are sure it is dry, we take it down from its drying place, bundle and label each one, and ship them from our loving hands to yours!

We do our very best to process and ship orders within 15 to 20 business days of receipt. On occasion, due to sales, seasonal fluxes, or mother nature, processing times may take longer. If that's the case, we'll do our best to contact you and let you know. COVID SHIPPING TIMELINE: Due to Covid safety protocol orders are taking longer. Shipping to US Addresses

All packages shipped within the United States are sent via USPS Priority Mail for anything above 14 ounces and are calculated based on weight of items purchased. Any package weighing less than 14 ounces is sent First Class and postage is calculated based on weight.

Shipping to International Addresses

Please note that all prices are in US dollars. Packages destined to regions outside of the United States are sent via USPS Priority Mail for any package weighing more than 4 pounds and you may choose from First Class International Or Priority Mail for anything weighing 4 pounds or less.

PLEASE NOTE: Packages shipped by First Class Mail cannot be tracked. We will not be held responsible for any lost packages shipped via First Class. If you would like tracking, you will need to select Priority Mail shipping.

Delivery times average four days to two weeks from the time of shipment.

Customs may delay delivery and you may be subject to import duties and taxes which are levied once the package arrives at your country. Additional charges or duties for customs clearance are the sole responsibility of the recipient as we have no visibility or control over these charges. Customs regulations vary widely from country to country and you should contact your local customs office for more information.

Blue Moon is not responsible for incorrect addresses. The customers are responsible for keeping their addresses current in their Blue Moon account.


You must contact Blue Moon for authorization prior to returning any yarn. Unused yarn that is in its original condition and has not been balled or cut into within 60 days of purchase for a refund or an exchange. When exchanging unused yarn, you are responsible for shipping costs to and from Blue Moon. We cannot accept responsibility for items lost or damaged in shipping. Please be sure to to return merchandise in a traceable manner.


We can refund shipping costs only if the return is the result of our error or defective products. All returns must be preauthorized before they are returned and the following information must accompany the product: the original order number; the reason for the return; and your full name, address, email address, and phone number.


We do not accept exchanges on books, patterns, cards, needles, or accessories unless the items were damaged in shipment. Blue Moon will pay any shipping costs associated with replacing damaged merchandise. Please include the damaged merchandise, a description of the damage, a copy of your original receipt, and your email and shipping addresses. Please ship returns to:
