Aspen Sport is a wonderfully soft and lofty 3-ply worsted weight tweed yarn! It’s made from Merino form Shaniko Wool Co, ranched and processed in the US, and is completely traceable from ranch to dyer (me). Aspen Worsted is compliant with the Responsible Wool Standard, developed by the Textile Exchange, which ensures animal welfare, preserves land health, and ensures traceability.
Blue Moon will be working on many more yarns in partnership with Shaniko. Aspen, our first tweedy yarn, uses mostly black and brown nubs of acrylic and rayon to create its subtle and lovely tweed effect.
Aspen Sport marks the beginning of Blue Moon’s CSY (Community Supported Yarn) project. We want to continue to supply high quality, well made, beautiful yarns to create with that also support our planet and everyone along the chain that is involved in creating it. Since this is a new venture for us and stock is limited, this first offering is a PRESALE. We will be shipping the first batch of this yarn starting June 10th.
