Sunday May 20th - Dye Your Fade!

Thanks to some super creative designers (Andrea Mowry, Joji Locatelli, Stephen West) we are all about FINDING OUR FADE right now.

Color groupings are hot!!!

And as for shawls and wraps, the bigger the better, so lots of room for exploring color!

Color groupings that go from the lighter end of the spectrum to the darker end and then maybe back again if that's what speaks to you. Colors that contrast so there are some defining pattern/color moments. Colors that play well together and some that steal the show and need other hues for support. We can go from light to bright, from speckled to solid or both at the same time. In this moment in hand knitting time the world is our colorful oyster and pretty much we are only limited by our own imaginations!

So we are going to let our imaginations fly wide open and we're going to discuss and explore all of these possibilities and then you will create your very own coloring grouping. Bring and open mind!!!

In this Dye Camp Session, you’ll learn all about the different types of dyes and dye processes that you need to make this magic happen We will experiment (play) with a few techniques (yes, there will be speckles). While we delve into some of the chemistry of the dyeing, we’ll also be exploring a little color theory and expanding our personal color sensibilities a bit. We will use our Featherweight yarn for this colorful excursion.

Since I'm predominately a dyer that works with yarn so we will be focusing on animal fiber yarn bases (baa baa) in this class so we will also be learning about how different fibers absorb the dye/color.

Cost includes:

  •  Blue Moon’s well-stocked and dedicated dye barn!
