About Blue Moon Fiber Arts®, Inc.

Tina Newton

More than just a color genius, Tina brings to the yarn world a wealth of fiber knowledge and experience and an extraordinary artistic flair. The love affair started with spinning. Soon after, she began dyeing her own roving and discovered not only a talent but a passion. She then began translating her color theory from her own handspun onto millspun yarns and Blue Moon was born. Tina has a fertile imagination and the practical creativity to support it. This energy is contagious and inspiring. She loves sharing her vision and working with others. This is the spirit of Blue Moon. Tina is the wife of Don and the mother of Narayan, Rabia, and Sophie. A vegetarian, homeschooler, therapist, aging hippie chick, and just a blast to be around. Besides chickens, she has a thing for firetrucks. Her favorite song is "Once in a Very Blue Moon."

Debra McVae

Debra joined Blue Moon in September of 2005 as "Production Dyer Extraordinaire" and Tina's saving grace. She is loving, fun and generous. After operating her own daycare business for twenty years, she was looking for a change and Blue Moon is very lucky she chose to make a complete 180 and get her hands messy. She makes the best cinnamon rolls on the planet. A native of this rural area, Debra brings to Blue Moon her small town life and charm. She is mother of two, Melissa and Rian, and wife to Doug. On weekends in the summer, they race Dwarf Cars and go very, very fast.

Rosanna Donna Richmond

Rosie came to Blue Moon in September of 2006. She rinses, bundles, skeins, tags, and moves yarn all around the barn. Rosie is Blue Moon's very own superhero -- "Agent Awesome." By day she is a yarn goddess and by night she keeps the evirons of Scappoose safe for all (she has a cape and everything!). She fits in very well and is a "glass half full" kind of girl. Rosie lives with her dogs Lucky, Bucky and Spunky and two cats, Weezer and Kitty. She loves concerts, Mario games, tea parties, saving the world, and the randomness of life. If you are in an elevator and a young woman with a cape gets on and stays facing everyone with the door closing behind her, that is Rosie. Yes, she is named after Gilda Radner's character in SNL.

Anneli Evans

Anneli (pronounced "Ah-nah Lee") arrived via UPS in November of 2006 (her husband, John, is Blue Moon's UPS hero). She grew up in Finland, learned to love knitting and yarn as a little girl, and is one of our production dyers. She really likes to bundle (fondle) the yarn after it is dyed and says that it is a work hazard, "Too many nice yarns and not enough time to do anything with them." She loves being a grandmother, going on excursions with John, and finding coffee shops and secondhand bookstores. Her favorite book is the Bible. She likes to say, "I make a living dyeing" and "Hei suomalaiset-tilatkaa hienoja lankoja" (if you can read Finnish).

JoAnn D.

JoAnn arrived in Blue Moon land in November of 2006 from Pluto (from where her brother says she comes). She is our "Sock Club and Customer Service Queen Extraordinaire". Her hair is hot pink, the perfect color for Blue Moon's C.S. queen. JoAnn's last job was executive toyologist for an internet specialty toy company. She lives with her husband of fifteen years as well as nine kitties -- Jack, Jim, Oscar, Moe, Kali, Orangelus, Grimalkin, Gavroche, and Tucker. She has not had televison for eleven years!

Rabia Newton

Rabia is daughter, designer, tagger, quality controller, editor, and grammar queen. She is also studying at the Portland Community College so her time is limited but her help and presence are invaluable. Rabia enjoys Jane Austen books, math, painting, and editing.

Toni Neil

Toni is a Blue Moon guardian angel. She is the owner of The Fold in Marengo, Illinois and sells Blue Moon yarns there as well as at trade shows. Tina describes meeting Toni in 2002, "I met Toni when I was searching for a certain type of spindle. I browsed her website, found what I was looking for, called to order it, and there was instant connection. I sent her pictures of the yarn I was dyeing at the time and Toni 'drooled all over them'. We have been friends ever since. Her friendship, knowledge and support are essential to me."
